Noida: It was a mixed bag for the two NCR cities as Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (UPMSP) announced the results for the classes 10 and 12 board exams on Friday.
In Noida, Class 10 ranking dropped dramatically from 3rd to 31st rank, with the pass percentage falling to 91.1 this year from 95.1 in 2024. However, its Class 12 performance improved, climbing to 14th rank from last year's 32nd position.
Ghaziabad, which recorded a pass percentage of 92.5% in Class 10, slipped from 6th to 19th place. In 2024, the district's pass percentage was 94.3. Like Noida, the overall Class 12 pass percentage in Ghaziabad improved to 88.5, climbing to 8th spot from last year's 13th when the city's pass percentage was 87.6.
It was, however, a day of double cheer for Yash Memorial School in Noida's Sector 58 as two students secured the top spots in Class 10 across the district. Tanvi Nagar led with 95% and her classmate, Sheetal Singh, was second with 93.1%. Krishna from SDS Intercollege secured the third-highest marks with 92.8%.
In Class 12, Dev from VRSB Inter College, Kalaunda, topped with 90.8%, scoring 454 out of 500. Anushka Kumari of CRS Girls Inter College in Sadarpur ranked second in the district with 90%, and Anshu Jaiswal of KCS Girls Inter College in Surajpur was third with 89.8%.
"Results of Class 12 were better this year. I congratulate all the students and teachers. Many students from remote areas also scored well. However, the department will investigate why Class 10 pass percentage dipped," DIOS Noida Dharamveer Singh said.
In Ghaziabad, Piyush Kumar Gour of Maharshi Dayanand Vidyapeeth Inter College topped in Class 12 with 91%. Sushila Girls Inter College student Alfisha bagged the second spot with 87.2%, and Aman Sharma of Inter College, Khoda Colony, was third with 86.4%.
"I am happy with the result, but had hoped to score better in English and physics. I am planning to apply for a review of scores," Gour said.
Anas Khan, from Maharshi Dayanand Vidyapeeth Inter College, topped the district in Class 10 with 94%. Priyanshu Kumar Chauhan was second with 93.5% and Vansh Sharma was third with 93.3%.
This year's board exams were held in Feb amid stringent measures, including deployment of STF, CCTV surveillance, and real-time monitoring from a central war room to root out malpractices. In Class 10, a total of 20,625 students had appeared from Noida and 27,036 from Ghaziabad. A little over 19,000 wrote the Class 12 papers in Noida. Nearly 24,000 appeared from Ghaziabad.
